Fuel for the Year-Round Work
Why We Host Events
Hosting festivals like the Lambert's Bay Legends Festival is part of Project Sunwave's sustainable financial model. Revenue from sponsorships, vendors, and fundraising activities funds our year-round youth programmes directly, season after season.
Structured sport reduces risk factors linked to substance abuse, inactivity, and mental health decline, while offering mentorship and safe recreation spaces.

What Events We Host
The Lambert's Bay Legends Festival is a multi-sport event, built to deliver youth engagement, economic stimulus, and social cohesion across the peak holiday period, when local kids have the least structure and the most exposure to risk.
A Town-Wide Moment
Prevention Through Sport
Sport as Social Infrastructure
Beach Touch Rugby (U14, U18, Amateur, Women, Pro) and Beach Football tournaments give participants formal, organised platforms for competition, with high-level, safe sporting experiences that don't usually reach a town like ours.
Mass participation, rural youth access, gender equity, and talent pathways are delivered through structured competitions and youth engagement programmes, with a deliberate focus on women and girls' participation.
Events stimulate the local economy by supporting vendors and small businesses, encouraging tourism, and creating temporary employment. Talent exposure, social cohesion, and a safer holiday season for local youth: these are the outcomes we're building toward, together with Lambert's Bay.
Measurable Change
A Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework is used to ensure transparent reporting and measurable outcomes. Proceeds from the festival and events are reinvested directly into our ongoing youth programmes: ocean safety, surf therapy, and employability.
Real Reach
Mass participation, rural youth access, gender equity, and talent pathways are delivered through structured competitions and youth engagement programmes, drawing visitors, vendors, and families into Lambert's Bay for the week.
Compete. Gather. Give back.
We believe in the power of sport and community to transform a small town's trajectory. By competing, showing up, and building real relationships, our athletes and vendors help Lambert's Bay shape a future of its own choosing.
