In many homes across Lambert’s Bay, a young person may never have seen a working adult in their household. Some will never meet their fathers. Others have learned, by example, that unemployment is simply “the way it is.” This is what intergenerational poverty looks like and why our mission goes far beyond water sports.

The core problem isn’t just poverty, it’s the lack of accessible, empowering pathways out of it.

That’s where Positive Youth Development (PYD) comes in. Evidence shows that holistic, community-rooted programs can shift outcomes long-term: boosting education, mental health, and employment rates. At Project Sunwave, we aim to do exactly that.
